Clients frequently ask me how to use the DStv installation wizard. Due to either wrong decoder settings or signal issues, the majority of individuals get stuck on Step 4 of 5.
You should not worry if this seems familiar. This kind of issue affects the majority of people.
I’ll demonstrate how to customize the installation wizard in this article. Let’s define the installation wizard first, though.
What is the DStv installation wizard?
You can select your decoder settings and establish a satellite connection with the help of the DStv installation wizard. When you first switch your decoder, the wizard launches immediately. If you reset your decoder, you can also view the wizard.

Consequently, since you do not need to engage a technician to set up your decoder, learning how to use the wizard can help you save money.
DSTV Wizard Settings
You can modify the following options when utilizing the installation wizard:
- Language
- depends on your country, the satellite’s name
- type of setup (quick or manual)
- Depending on the decoder model, the LNB type
How to run the wizard on an HD decoder ( single or twin LNB)
- Hit the “DStv button” in blue.
- To access “Settings,” use the right arrow.
- “Satellite Settings” is down near the bottom.
- Next, select “Home Network.”
- Select “Launch Installation Wizard” then press “OK” on the remote
- Select the satellite that corresponds to your nation. Choose “IS20” if you are in South Africa or a neighboring country. If you choose to remain somewhere in Africa, use “E36B.”
- Select “Manual Setup” for the HD decoder
- Set the LNB type to be “Universal”
- Select “Scan” then press “OK” on the remote.
If you do not see blue bars then you do not have a signal. - You now need to wait for your decoder to complete scanning.

Conclusion
That is how the wizard is operated, so there you have it. The error message “This function cannot be executed as the signal strength is poor” will appear if there is no signal. By following the instructions in my post on how to resolve a DStv no signal issue, you can fix this issue.
